BANGOR, Maine — The New Hampshire distributor for a St. David man serving a life sentence for running a marijuana smuggling ring has been sentenced to three months in federal prison.

Jeffrey Dubois, 44, of Manchester, N.H., waived indictment, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute marijuana, and was sentenced last Thursday in U.S. District Court.

U.S. District Judge John Woodcock also sentenced Dubois to three years of supervised release and ordered him to pay a $500 fine. The judge stayed the imposition of sentence until July 24.

Dubois faced up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $1 million. Under the prevailing federal sentencing guidelines, the recommended sentence was between 12 and 18 months.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office urged the judge to reduce Dubois’ sentence because he had cooperated with authorities.

Dubois, also known as “Jeff the Plumber,” testified two years ago against Michael Pelletier, 53, who was convicted of running a marijuana distribution ring that stretched from the St. John Valley to southern Maine and New Hampshire. Dubois also testified against three others — Archie Ladner, 44, of Easton, Raymond “Rocky” Fogg, 56, of Winn and Anthony Caparotta, 44, of Caribou.

Pelletier was convicted by a jury in July 2007 on drug, money laundering and Social Security fraud charges. He received disability benefits due to a farm accident when he was 12 which left him paralyzed from the waist down.

Fogg and Caparotta were convicted in June 2008 of conspiracy to distribute marijuana. The jury also found Fogg guilty of Social Security fraud. Caparotta was sentenced in October to five years and eight months in prison. Fogg was sentenced in January to five years and three months in prison.

Ladner, 44, of Easton was found not guilty in July 2007 of drug charges. Ladner, who was accused of being a driver in the drug conspiracy, died May 25, 2008, of natural causes.

Three others — Ben Dionne, 29, of St. David, John “Scooch” or “Scoochy” Pascucci, 50, of Gorham and Michael Easler 28, of St. David — pleaded guilty to drug and other charges related to their involvement in Pelletier’s operation.

Dionne was sentenced in May to 24 months in prison. Easler was sentenced in August 2007 to 12 years in prison. Pascucci is expected to be sentenced later this summer.

three months in federal prison hell he might as well not gotten any sentence.

I could have read it incorrectly but it sounds like that is only part of what he is getting.

He is in prison for life... and three months?

WTF?

The lede needs to be rewritten.

Michael Pelletier,53 is doing life in prison after Jeffrey Dubois,44 of Manchester, N.H., sniched him out for a very short, cozy amount of time in a federal penitentiary.

Perhaps the boys in the pen will take care of this RAT.

Why is he going to federal prison for 3 months in the first place?

It is about time we stop the insanity of sentencing people to prison for pot. Most of the prison populations should be for hardened criminals, i.e., those committing violent crimes. That would be one way to reduce the national debt. We house more of our citizens in prisons than any other country in the world. The funny part is we are not safe any longer than say, Denmark or Sweden or Germany or Ireland, England, France.... the list goes om.

Jeff the plumber is now Jeff the Rat. There is no shortage of weed in Northern Maine or anywhere in the country. These guys were replaced within a month and Mainers are still enjoying their weed. Someday our country won't be able to afford to house all these weed users. It's just a waste of resources that should be spent on education and addiction treatment. The business world is built on supply and demand; as long as there is strong demand somebody will always fill it.

Now with this story an another story, you ppl are forgettin why we are NOT goin to have social security becuz of DIRTBAGS LIKE THIS!! If they can sell pot and make TONS of money off it why rape the taxpayers??? RAPE THEM!!! cuz they CAN!! the goverment ALLOWS them to!!! pay thier bills, meds, free healthcare, & collect ssi, an never worked a day in their lives, an sell dope all on the taxpayers time!!! I say rape them for everything they have, send the wives or g/fs to jail for being an accomplice, make them work and take all but 50 bucks a wk from them!!!!! let them starve!!! let them walk!!! take their licenses, make it so hard they will drop DEAD!!! cuz they dont care if we go without social security by raping the system, , they are thieves!!!

rated them out and still breathin, man how times have changed, rats deserve baseball bats to the head, peace

The truth is Archie Ladner (who also was on SSDI) also ratted on the rest of the drug ring. He got off scott free and is in the witness protection program in Florida. All this Pot comes from the Hells Angels from Quebec.
